Finding people by email

Wednesday, June 17th, 2009

It’s often the case that people use the internet to make contact with old connections or people they’ve just lost touch with. There are various ways of doing this and this article explores whether using email alone is the best way of finding long lost friends and relations.

One current concept is called six degrees of separation. So for example, we all know someone who knows someone, who knows someone etc and that if we multiply this by 6, then we have someone that we can claim a connection to. So each person knows one person in the chain, until the sixth person, who turns out to know the person you need to find!

But you cannot expect a concept like 6 degrees of separation to be valid in real life at all times. But if you persevere you can have a degree of success in finding people, simply by using an email address, rather than searching the web.

First port of call should be your social networking site membership - with a message to people asking if anyone can help. If you have say 100 friends on your networking site, then 1 email to these 100 people should at least generate some leads.

From your addresses, highlight the one you want to trace and send out a request for assistance to do so. It may well be that this simply generates some ‘People finder’ websites, which is not actually finding people by email alone, but email will certainly kickstart the process of finding them.

Remember though, however you search, that some people may not wish to be found, so they have taken care to ensure that they do not have a widely known email address and are not registered with any networking sites, nor do they have their contact details on any websites, or maybe they just have a new email address. If so, they remain unknown - please respect their privacy.

However, when you want to locate people, email is a great method (but email alone may not be the best method). The best results will come from using all 3 methods - web search, social networking sites and also people finder sites. Don’t put all your faith in finding someone based on the 6 degrees of separation theory: it really isn’t that simple, you need to use all the tools you can in your search.

Periodontal Care Must Be Remembered For The Elderly Too!

Thursday, June 11th, 2009

It’s really interesting when you come right down to it. There are different statistics out there on this problem, but one thing seems to be sure: A lot of people have it.

The funny thing is: An awful lot of those people don’t even know they have it. If you are not sure, you can get a diagnosis from a periodontist.

You can go to your regular dentist too, but often times, and there have has been a study that documented this, dentists don’t have the same focus on your periodontal health as periodontists do.

Therefore, regardless of your age and whether you think you have this disease or not, I suggest that you go and get checked. They will probe your pocket depths - that is the rim of tissue that surrounds your teeth.

By the way, another tell tale sign of periodontal disease is that you feel pain when they do the probing. That is a sign that your gums are inflamed, even if you are visibly unable to tell. When your gums are healthy, that probing doesn’t bother you at all.

When your tissue is diseased, it will feel as if someone is sticking pins into your gums! Believe me, I’ve been on both sides of that coin. When your gums are healthy, that probing doesn’t bother them… Keep this in mind when you go in to get checked.

Pocket depths: They should not be more than 3 millimeters - that is considered normal and healthy. 4, 5, 6, 7 and beyond is considered unhealthy and one sign of a diseased state.

So what can you do at home, in addition to your normal professional dental treatments and checkups to make your gums health again?

Get yourself a hydrofloss oral irrigator. With this device, you will be able to reduce the amount of plaque build up between office visits. This device has been written about twice in the Journal of Clinical Periodontology.

Next: Get yourself some therabreath mouthwash. It is oxygenated and pH balanced.Oxygen can help to reduce the anaerobic bacteria (the bad guys) in your mouth.pH balance can also make the environment less hospitable to the ‘bad’ bacteria.

Periodontal disease or even mild gingivitis is no joke. Take action today.  There are things you can do at home.Any dental professional will tell you that what you do at home is critical.  They can only see you a couple to a few times a year.  They cannot realistically do the important work for you!

So, what is  depression? Depression is an illness that affects not only your mood  and thoughts but also the entire body. It can affect the way you ponder things,  eat as well as sleep and how you view yourself too.

One cannot get a hold of himself or herself during  depression, nor will it away with a strong will. But the good thing is that one  can be treated to overcome any depressions, even though those depressions have  been plaguing for many years.

Depends of the  type of depression and how long it has been allowed to progress, so symptoms  are different for each person. When someone is depressed, he or she may have  troubles with concentration or even with decision making. Many people joined depression quiz to find out their type of depressions.

Some have problems and difficulties with short-term memory. Most have  highly negative thoughts. They can be said to suffer from self-criticism,  excessive guilt, poor self-esteem, and pessimism. More serious depressions may  cause self-destructive thoughts.

A person who is deressed often feels tired and irritable.  Some feel hopeless and helpless, and even lose their temper.  Others may  feel that work productivity suffers them greatly. I know a friend who suffers  from a great depression after divorced keep telling me how she feels hopeless  and helpless about her life. So that she doesn’t like to do anything even leave  her own office.

Many people who are depressed usually either over-eat or do  not eat enough, also have sleeping problems, where some oversleep and others  not at all. They also suffer a plethora of pains and restless, which is bad for  their health.

Depression Treatments: The very best advice is if you feel as if you may be depressed, then at  least go to a psychiatrist once.

In order to receive the correct diagnosis, be sure and tell the  psychiatrist every symptom you may have, and not omit anything out of the  ordinary for yourself, even if you feel it may be unimportant.
