If you want to know how to prevent it then you must know how it is caused and what triggers. In all the cases anything that will disrupt your normal sleep cycle will trigger sleep paralysis. If you are under a lot of tension and stress the chances of you experiencing it are high.

Try to be in a relaxed mood when you go to sleep. Taking on regular amounts of exercise will make sure you have a way to release your stress and frustrations. Ultimately when you do fall asleep the mind must be free. There are also stimulants like caffeine, alcohol and tobacco that are capable of disrupting your sleep. If you want to prevent sleep paralysis then avoid taking these substances at night or before you sleep.

There are two things that will kick the brain out of sleep, light and sound. It is advisable to sleep in a dark room with all the appliances off. Keeping the radio and TV on while you sleep does little to improve the situation. Keeping to a regular sleeping schedule is also a good idea. This way the body is conditioned to sleeping and waking up at specific times only.

There are many ways in which you can prevent sleep paralysis. The few ideas I’ve mentioned here are just a drop in the ocean of a much researched on subject. You can find out what other people have done to get rid of this problem.

Caring for the Health of Senior Citizens

Sunday, October 25th, 2009

Everyone grows old.  That’s an inevitable fact that no one can dodge or avoid altogether. For every natal day, the age of a person also increases.  However, growing old is not the same as aging.Aging corresponds to one’s biological age.  More often than not, it is how old the body feels and acts.

Enjoying life at a more mature age is often conditioned by the ability to not to get overwhelmed with various health problems that start to manifest and come with age.  Senior citizens or the elderly must know the health risks they face so they would be prepared in dealing with this inevitable stage of life.  Most senior citizens have made good financial investments and have nest eggs in which to spend the rest of their lives in comfort.  When they were young, they worked hard and saved and borrowed fast cash loans in order to build their retirement funds.  Unfortunately, many forgot to make the best investment of all, and that is to take care of their health.  It is not too late yet, though.  Better informed is better prepared.  There are many ways to prevent senior problems.

•    Senior citizens must adopt a healthy lifestyle as soon as possible.  For example, smokers should quit smoking to improve their breathing and other respiratory concerns.  It is also advisable to limit alcohol intake or stop drinking completely.Senior citizens must always be mindful of a balanced diet and take exercise seriously.
•    Geriatric doctors encourage their elderly patients to engage in mentally stimulating activities. The elderly can enjoy reading books, playing cards, and even doing puzzles.  It is also possible for them to take up a hobby.  Even if they are not yet retired, old people could spend some for their hobbies, even by taking out a small cash loan they could easily repay.
•    Old age should not be barrier to being socially active.  Senior citizens have the time and energy to do volunteer work, join a club, or even travel in a group. They could get together with some people in their age group and do fun activities.
Seniors should heed this advice: always go to the doctor for check ups.  This is to ensure that they are in good shape for their age and get prompt treatment for any healthy conditions as they crop up.

It is not the end of the road when people become senior citizens.  It is a new experience for them and they are encouraged to adopt a positive outlook in life.

how do you rid of ringing in the ears, stop the buzzing in my ears, low humming in ears

  • You may be stressed or anxious about something. This could be related to something in the future or something that has already happenned. Being under stress may result in some chemical and hormonal changes that may affect the fluid in your ears
  • Lack of Exercise or activity: Long periods of inactivity usually cause many problems in the body and one way these problems show up is through the ringing of the ears.
  • Poor dietary techniques: Alcohol and junk food have also been know to contribute to this condition. Cut back on the alcohol and try to eat vitamin rich foods.
  • Frequent or constant exposure to loud noises or sound: Some examples of loud sound that I can think of are music in a night club, a noisy working environment like a construction site just to name a few.
  • Childhood Medical Problems: Chances are when you were young some surgery tubes were inserted in your ears. This may have damaged your inner parts and may also be leading to some headaches and irritability. If this is the case chances are it’s only going to get worse hence the need to get it treated as soon as possible.

Hallucinatory Sleep Paralysis

Sunday, October 25th, 2009

This article analyses sleep paralysis, the things that it is caused by and the available remedies and solutions. Take a few minutes to go through it and I’m sure you will find it to be both informative and helpful.

The one thing that I hate most about hallucinatory sleep paralysis is that at the time it occurs the visions and sensations I’m feeling are just too real. In such cases you tend to panic especially when you realize you cannot move or even scream.

The funny thing is that the paralysis sets in to prevent you from doing just that. In trying to move you are attempting to respond to something that is you are seeing in a dream. There is no telling the amount of harm that we would do to ourselves and others if we reacted to everything that went on in our dreams. So unfortunately the change from total sleep to a state of full consciousness is not always a smooth one.

If your sleep happens to be disrupted whilst you are having a dream the paralysis sets in. Trust me I know; uncomfortable does not even come close to describing those few moments that you struggling to move or say something. That is one characteristic of hallucinatory sleep paralysis. It is just too vivid and real.

So is there anything that can be done about it? The ways to deal with sleep paralysis are just as many as the causes. The underlying theory though is avoiding anything that will disrupt your normal sleep. Stimuli that tends to suddenly jostle the brain out of sleep. Things like light, sound or even going to sleep before emptying your bladder or bowels can bring about an episode.

You can find extensive and comprehensive remedies and solutions to this condition at any one of these:

cure from sleep paralysis, recurring sleep paralysis, chemical REM Sleep Paralysis

Hallucinatory sleep paralysis is a common medical problem and it can be gotten rid off. There is no need for you to continue experiencing sleepless nights. There are so many remedies and solutions to this problem.

Should You Be Using Fluoride or Not?

Friday, October 23rd, 2009

It is quite amazing when you stop to consider all of the different ideas and notions about proper dental care.  These seemingly conflicting theories leave the patient - or more accurately - the consumer, in a sea of bewilderment most of the time.

For instance, is fluoride in mouthwash and toothpaste good or bad? Many dental experts believe that toothpaste, mouthwash and even topical treatments of fluoride harden your teeth and are therefore good. Other researchers say that any fluoride containing product put in the mouth spikes blood fluoride levels. Fluoride apparently tends to accumulate in parts of the brain as well.

Research like that done by Dr. Phyllis J. Mullenix, PhD. clearly makes you question even small amounts of fluoride showing up in our drinking supply and food supply - as many foods are exposed to fluoridated water. She also discusses that when they wanted to study even lower doses of fluoride for extended periods of time, that her funding was cut.

There are even dentists who are against fluoride’s use in the human body for any reason. Confusing, isn’t it? Who do we listen too? I can’t answer that question definitively for you but here are some thoughts that I will share on this aspect of dental health.

I am personally against fluoridation of drinking water. Despite the arguments in favor of forced medication of our drinking supply, I think it is wrong to ‘force’ any medication on a population. This behavior effectively side steps each person’s right to choose. On the other hand, the choice of personal dental care products is just that: a choice. Each person as the right to choose whether he uses fluoridated rinse and toothpaste.

When it comes to adding fluoride to the drinking supply, many scientists and professionals are against the use of fluoride while many others are in support of it. When you have this kind of debate between scientists, isn’t it best to error on the side of caution?  Find out which tools can improve your oral health
